About Me

Hi! I’m a storyteller working as a news designer and visual journalist for The Baltimore Banner. I live in Baltimore, MD.

Previous to working in journalism, I taught illustration to undergraduate and graduate students at Maryland Institute College of Art and Towson University. Prior to studying illustration, I worked at Candlewick Press in the design department and in my free time, self-published mini-comics and zines to sell at festivals around Boston.

How do you say it? My name, Laila, is Latvian. You pronounce it as lie-luh. Similar to Laika the space dog.
