Hi! I’m an adjunct instructor of illustration at Maryland Institute College of Art, where I just graduated from the MFA Illustration Practice program in May 2019. I’m interested in editorial, publishing, and hand lettering jobs.
Before MICA, I worked at Candlewick Press in the design department and self-published mini-comics and zines. Past subjects of interest have included WWII displaced persons, spirituality in architecture, Antonioni’s movies, and the Soviet experience, though all of my narratives explore psychology or emotion and incorporate .
How do I say it? Laila is pronounced lie-lah. Like Laika the space dog.
